Guidelines:
  1. Select the days and times you would like to present your lesson(s), at least 1x/month. Complement the Live Virtual Lessons Google calendar below.  You are welcome to consider the results from this data to determine best times and days for students:

3. Sit in on a Collaborate Lesson to get comfortable with teaching in this environment. (Arrive 15 minutes early and stay until the end, please.)

4. Select a State Standard you would like to address per the department/class you are working for/teaching respectively.  (Visit with a team member to see how simple this can be.:))

5. Create a lesson for your students which matches the state standard you selected.  Student engagement is required, so use tools such as the polling options like A, B, or C with questions (sample).

6. Create a clear goal (measurable objective) for the students based upon this standard (sample).

7. Create an assessment to assure learning has taken place.

8. Provide 1) the specific standard, 2) specific goal, 3) presentation of lesson, 4) and assessment (with answers for instructors) to Suzanne Ensmann and upload to the E-Team Wiki Elluminate/Collaborate page respectively.

9. Present your lesson:
  • Arrive in the Virtual Lesson classroom 15 minutes early. (See top right for classroom links)
  • Upload your presentation
  • Turn on the polling feature
  • Turn on the feature to play a sound when a hand is raised
  • Turn on the feature to play a sound when someone enters the room
  • Set the timer on to count down the minutes to the lesson to raise student anticipation
  • Be ready to greet your students!
  • Start recording the session at your designated lesson time.
  • Instruct students to raise their hand in the class if they have any questions so you are alerted vs. having to concentrate on the Chat Box the whole time.
  • Require interactivity from students.
10. Highlight the respective standards you addressed in the lesson, and type your name and the date you presented the lesson on the respective Crocodoc. Here is the saved doc of work done to-date for the ABE-LangArts2013 (pdf).  Reading and Math have been completed according to this doc: ABE Comprehensive Lessons Standards, New GED Standards still pending.

11. Email Suzanne the number of participants that attended your lesson.

12. When I receive the recording, I will upload it for our easy access. Smile and be proud of your published work!
